I didn't expect to find myself writing double my usual quota, but I was on a roll. I'd never really thought about the cultural legacy of my year in Ukraine in such detail before. I feel a bit cleansed after this. The trauma bucket becomes the crucible of culture. Now, if only I could find my Akhmatova poetry book and watch that episode of The Lowdown again.
